Little Lottie makes it home.
Little Lottie goes home to a Galgo Friend John! via another asc. Shes just a little baby and she reminds me of my Ambo.
Im humbled at the name choice, since John chose Charlotte for having been in contact with me and I am truly excited to be Lotties namesake. What a privalage!
Puppy times ahead, and happy days for John and family.
John became a 112 carlota galgo friend when he fell in love with od Ana. Unable to welcome into the home, it wasnt meant to be for Ana found forever love with sSndra and family.
But Johns dream came true when he spotted Lil Lottie and here she is, home sweet home. I will try to be the best Auntieto Lottie that I can be.

Catch up time. ...
Dear 112 Carlota galgos friends...
Feels like ages since being able to spend time on the computer and keep up my blog. Cases after cases... and no time to even stop.
The plight of the galgos takes over our lives as we do our best to rescue care and rehome.
The plight of any cause is difficult, but when you live, breathe, sleep the plight its overwheling. It can also be breath taking when we see the happy endings that transpire for those souls rescued.

Fate lends a hand to 2 VERY special 112 carlota Galgo cases. Ana and Rey!
A podenca, struggling to survive in the wild.. A reocurring bone infection on a bad fracture. Safe and rescued, now moves through lifes paces to her very own forever.
Down and out! Skeletical in Sevilla. Giving up on life, Pain in his leg from a probable trap, fractured and healed. Alone in the wild.. for this is survival. Rey is a KING.
Resting after surgeryReys hunting instincts are high, its how he has survived. Here he wears his galgo muzzle in pride, he sees the lead come out and his nose goes up, ready for his muzzle. Rey has an innate understanding of what special is, and he sees that individual treatment just for him makes him special. He sees nothing as against him, or punishment, he knows the muzzle is just for him, and he wears it proudly. The KING of KINGS!
Dear friends of ANA and REY!
Fate steps in and lends a hand to these 2 incredibly special cases.
Ana a desperate case in Valencia wandering around in agony, a reocurring infection of the broken bone. Agony for Ana.
Ana came to us and we had to treat the infection, and then again before admitting her to surgery. Ana lost her leg but gained her life! Had she not had this surgery and been unable to be caught she would surely have met an agonising end.
Ana is a podenca with a grace and serenity about her. Her eyes pierce your soul as she tells you her story. Theres no sorrow, no me in her look, its all about you! Ana has a gift, she is so intune that she knows when she is needed, she knows when she has to gain your attention for a greater need than herself, and she knows when she needs to prop you up! A soul mate, perhaps!
Ana joined Sandra and family as a foster podenca. A noisy pod, with alot to say about herself. theyve not had it easy by any means.. a pod with no home training takes on your patience. Ana adored Axi, Chikas brother and Anas foster brother. Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Axi had special needs, and Ana was in tune. When Axi needed something she would stand over him and bark.. bark until Sandra had attended his need.
Falling in love, her with the family - and the family with her. Grace and love never fails!
At the same time, Jen a great friend of the galgos and 112 Carlota galgos had fallen for Ana, sadly Jens Greyhound Honey crossed over to rainbow bridge recently - and left a space which Jen offered to Ana. Jen is part of an asoc for Greyhounds in the UK. (East Riding Greyhound Trust.) An avid campaigner for all animals in need. Expanding love from Ana to all our galgos in care, Jen also took to her heart REY! Asking for him, and always concerned for this needy soul.
REY. KING of KINGS!
Rey came to us via Sevilla, a friend named Cristina, a member of her team had rescud him in appalling conditions, he'd given up, lying there in the dirt too weak to carry on. She scooped him up and took him to her colleagues house and he stayed there approx a month. Needing care and attention, he and Polyana (already adopted in the UK to a foster home of Jens and East Riding Greyhound trust) both needing individual care they came to us together.
Poly blossomed and came out of her shell. Rey, he existed. Showed little personality, he was simply.. just there!
He ate, he drank, he walked, he didnt play, and he didnt love. Taking time his vision on life was changing, he was no spring chicken, at 7 he is a galgo who had fought to survive for his galguero, and then on the streets. He came with an old break, healing itself, so clearly on the streets for sometime. A trap, a snare, .. quite probable. An instinct to hunt which has kept him alive he showed me that he needed an experianced home, and someone who would understand the explanations of what a serious hunt instinct can be.
Rey over time, began to show pain in his break. There was no alternative to operate. It's here Rey found friends from across the globe.
Reys surgery was massive, good bone taken from the opposite shoulder and implanted into the break. Mass atrosis done to the bone area, and tendon area. The operation would leave Reys leg in a straight position, no longer able to move the "wrist" action. The surgery was opted for to save Reys pain. Tiring of it, weakening from it, we had to give back to Rey what life had taken. Days pain free.
Amazingly, its seemed to me the world heard about this special boy. Auction running to my surprise, all for REY! An expensive surgery, but one intricate but successful. Rey came home with 5 screws in his leg. He is doing well, and so is my vet thanks to Reys amazing global friends. He usually quivers when he sees me, yet still when I pull up outside the clinic door without parking will rush out and ask "what have we got" incase its an emergancy! There is an amazing feeling inside when you say to your vet, Id like the bill because you know you can pay it! Shaking the vet says leave it in the computer.. and I repeat.. no Im asking so I can pay you!!!!
This week has been one of the most special Ive had. Its one of the reasons I continue. The force of love shows me, it never fails. When its true, and pure, it never ever fails.
On the auction, I saw the most stunning collar, photo'd above. I stated this on the auction, that it was the most beautiful collar Id ever seen.
This week a parcel arrived - the most beautiful collar inside it. Thankyou Jan! Rey wears his collar in pride. A true KING! I believe this brought a gift of love, for yesterday I went to visit Ana in her foster home. Greeting me, and peacefully wandering around, Sandra and family extended their love so much to Ana, that they are going to adopt her. Its here she will stay, forever! She has made it!
Discussing this with Jen, always aware of Rey and caring for his needs, Jen offers REY his forever home.
Its as if, these 2 innate special dogs have been working together to help each other in their forevers at the same time. It feels like fate has taken a hand, and shown these two souls they are and will forever be.. loved.
To the most amazing Mums and families, I cannot thankyou enough. Its just meant to be!
Rey will stay with us for sometime as his healing process is still early days. Heading onto the end of summer, if the vet gives him the all clear, is when he will be heading home to his family. His very own family.
I know that when we are forgotten, they are truly home. They have both made it, these 2 special souls.
So.. how can I ever thank such kind people, such pure kindness has led directly to these very special dogs being cared for, operated on, and directly to their forevers. It's a reminder of just what people can achieve.
Seeing pain everyday can lead you to lose faith in humankind, but these two cases, REY has taught me something I will never ever forget. On the weaker days, when my heads in my hands, when I wonder what Im doing? If Im even helping at all, how to continue, how to keep going.. Rey has taught me as Ana has, LOVE NEVER FAILS!
Continued updates on Rey I will write, for he will be with us sometime yet.
My most sincere thanks, deepest gratitude to one and all. Without you, this could not have been achieved!
May you be blessed as you have blessed us in letting us care for Ana and REY .. without you all, my head would still be in my hands. Now, they wave in the air in joy, in thanks, .. and pride that we are witnessing two cases, on the same day, with special needs reflecting to one another, their forevers. To add to the special feeling, when REY goes home, he will see his stable friend and partner with who he joined us with. Polyana! cant get more special than that!
In galgo affection,.. to one and all, my most heartfelt thanks.
Watch Reys space for his continued health updates.

Restful REY! The KING OF KINGS!
The most beautful collar I think Ive ever seen.. and all for REY, the king of kings!
El Sr. REY!
Over the last week Ive been a little worried about REY, he seemed a little down and lacked interest in going out. Today he went to the vets for a check up. His xrays are good and showing that the radius is healing so this is good news. The bottom screws press against his toes,.. so this must take its toll on rey. Rey looked at me like, "Auntie Charls smiling, shes happy so it must be all alright!"
He is an amazing galgo. Fought for life held on to it by gritting his teeth, for the right to live. Survival was all he knew. I cannot place myself in his paws for I shudder at the imagination I have, and what I know all to well could have and probaly did happen.
DURANTE LA SEMANA ESTUVE UN POCO PREOCUPADA POR REY. LO HE VISTO UN POCO BAJO DE MORAL. EL CALOR PEGA AQUI! HOY HEMOS IDO A LA CLINICA PARA UNA REVISION. SU RADIOGRAFIA NOS ENSEÑA QUE LA RADIUS ESTA BIEN, Y ES ALGO POSITIVO. LOS TORNILLOS ESTAN APRETANDO A SUS DADOS Y CLARO, ESTO TIENE QUE TENER SU CONCECUENCIA EN EL SENTIDO DE MOLESTIA.
CON NOTICIAS QUE SU X RAY ESTABA BIEN, REY ME MIRABA "CHARL ESTA SONRIENDO, ESTA CONTENTA SON BUENOS NOTICIAS!" REY ES UN GALGO MUY VALIENTE, LUCHABA PARA SOBRE VIVIR, AGRRANDO LA VIDA COMO EL PUDE, .. NO PUEDO PONER ME EN SUS PATAS PERO EN MI IMAGINACION SE LO QUE EL TUVE QUE PASAR, Y TIEMBLO PENSANDO LO.
These days.. well, the KING OF KINGS he has a stable all to himself, he has bedding on his plastic bed incase thats where he chooses to lie. He also has 4 cushions on the floor covered by blankets and now sheets as its hot, pillows against the walls and matching bedding sets. Only the best for REY!
HOY EN DIA PUES REY EL REY DE REYES, TIENE UNA CUADRA PARA EL, SU CAMITA DE PLASTICO CUBIERTO CON MANTAS, EN EL SUELO POR SI A CASO QUIERE TUMBARSE ASI, TIENE 4 COJINES, ALMOHADAS AL ROEDADOR, MANTAS Y SABANAS PUESTO. SOLO EL MEJOR PARA REY.
Well, Rey received one of the best gifts of life, one of the magical things Ive seen people do is come together for a galgo who needs help. Reys auction took off on facebook and this is where I glimpsed through, I caught sight of the most beautiful collar. I made a comment under it, stating just that!
BUENO, REY HA RECIBIDO UNO DE LOS REGALOS MAS BONITOS QUE HE VISTO EN MI VIDA, UNA COSA MAGICA QUE LAS PERSONAS TIENE ES UNIRSE PARA UN ANIMAL QUIEN NECESITA CUIDOS ESPECIALES. UNA SUBASTA EMPEZO, CUANDO MIRE COMO ERA, PUES HE VISTO UN COLLAR UN COLLAR MAS BONITO QUE HE VISTO. ESCRIBIENDO UN COMENTARIO, ASI DE LA BELLEZA DEL COLLAR.
Well one of Reys and 112 carlota galgos freinds spotted this, and 2 days ago the collar arrived unexpectadly. A complete surprise. Today Rey got dressed up to go to the clinic. New collar, with a new chapa (heart shaped tag) to match, and off we went. He looked stunning.
My deepest thanks to you all for the Auction, to Reys friend Jan, for an amazing gift.
HACE 2 DIAS LLEGO EL CARTERO, UNO DE LOS AMIGOS DE REY Y 112 CARLOTA GALGOS LE HAN COMPRADO EL COLLAR Y LE HAN MANDADO EL REGALO DE SORPRESA PARA REY! HOY COMO REY ESTABA SALIENDO PUES PUSE EL COLLAR CON UNA CHAPA NUEVA Y SE PARECIA UN REY DE VERDAD. MAS GUAPO. QUE BELLEZA DE GALGO!
MIS AGRADECIMIENTOS A TODO MUNDO POR VUESTRO AYUDA, LA SUBASTA, VUESTROS DESEOS PARA REY, Y PARA JAN POR MANDAR LE UN COLLAR TAN BONITO.

Galgos in gypsy hell!
Gracias

Rey.
Rey is coping very well with his leg in pins. His progress is good and despite the pain and heaviness of his leg, his heart is full with love.
The cleansing of his wounds he doesnt like much, but its to be understood. He comes out for a little walk and hopes along. He's always happy to just have a cuddle and feel special. He is in his own stable which he loves!! All for him. His recovery is paramount so he has everything he needs to keep him comfortable. Right now his days are filled with check ups, and cleansing. Time sitting with him, and little walks. He tires easily.
He has coped like a star. It was so necessary his surgery as he was dealing with alot of pain and getting worse. Its going to be a long process for Rey, but we have all the time he needs. He is without a doubt, our King of kings. Rey de Reyes!
Rey.
King of Kings!
A poem from Rey.
Rey came out of his stable today saying please could we just play?
He hopped along the best he could with strength he said he would.
His fight for life has held him strong, the king of kings he is.. With his leg in pins he does his best and hearts he truly wins.
He looks at me and hops to the van, Charlotte are going somewhere today?for I know Im special, you tell me this as I know you sing and pray!
So its getting hot and looks like were not taking a trip out today, but thats ok Im happy so, to just hop the day away!
Back to my stable I do go, its a mini salon made for me, its all for myself to lay around and heal my leg this way.
For I am the king the Rey de Reyes, and that I will forever stay.
I love my stable just for me, the care that I do feel. The cleaning of my wound takes place as I just lie they day away.
Ill keep you posted to my news, for this I know you share, within my heart I have truly learnt that humans they do care.
In galgo affection, Rey, Charl and 112 carlota galgos.

Adios Angela.
Somewhere out there, beneath the deep blue sky....
Angela.
I have so many words I could use to describe Angela and her stay with us at 112 carlota galgos stables. Yet I would not have enough room.
Angela has spent the most time with us at the stables with not a flash of hope of a family. We never understood why as she has soul, but perhaps it just was never her time.
Angela came to us via Susana. Angela brought us an amazing woman who comes without fail to help once a week, bringing with her bleach, towels, whatever is needed. They were made to meet!
Angela was recued from abandonment in horrendous pain. For she had clearly given birth, but had no sign of her precious babies. From the condition of her chronic mastitis it was clear she had been wandering around for days in this way, how many we just didnt know! Broken hearted, low and in agony. Lost and alone, she was probaly looking for them since its common practise here to throw out the mother and keep the babies.
Noone would take Angela in, no asoc. in any area. Susana very aware of the perreras actions, went to my vets. It was sheer fluke we were leaving as she came bursting out of the clinic door. Running towards the van I opened the window. When she told me, I didnt hesistate. If we have a space, I say yes. I dont think twice. Poor Susana burst into tears. Asking when we would take her, I said right there and then!
Instantly she went onto further treatment, cold compresses, and tlc. Several antibiotics and Milk drying tablets. Sofia embracing her wounded soul said to her "Tell me where your babies are and we will go and get them for you". For Angela Angelica was destroyed. Her will robbed from her as her natural instinct was to care for her young, robbed from her, they may as well have robbed her life.
Angela took time, she needed to heal her wounded aching heart, and as the infection lowered the process of her aching heart began.
This lil podenca, was invisible. To us at the stable, she became the very heart and soul of 112 Carlota galgos. Always there always sweet. She nursed the tiniest of podencos, lil Lucy at 6 kilos through all her treatment, she stayed by her side she said it was ok.
Susana, a moments bliss!
A squidge for Angela, a man with a heart!
Ohhh the days weve spent Angie, and moments like these where we sat and talked and you curled up on my lap and I held you. Telling you one day ... will be your day. Here the count down to her forever home takes place.
Ohhh HELLOOOO Neizan, KISS ME BACK!!!
Play time with Angelas friends Sofia and Selena.
Just stopped for a chat, but boyyyy do these cuddles feel good!
A smiling Angela, always in our hearts.
Always there, always loyal. Friends with all who entered, and entering into their hearts.
Angela, you are missed. You formed a bond which will never be broken, the most special dog I have ever had the pleasure to care for.
I know for you, this adjustment has been hard. So long at the stables, this was your security but now baby girl.. you are home!
Travelling across land and sea, she now lives in the USA! A spanish podenca, abandoned, unwanted, misunderstood, yet the most caring Podenca Ive ever come across. The most genuine and sweet. So very deserving of her new home, and the treasured help by all who took her there.
In galgo affection, and in our hearts forever more. Enjoy life now Angie.. its all yours for the taking!
Charl, family, Susana Debbie and family, and ALL the galgos and podencos you have helped... you are always with us!
Angela.

THANKYOU GRIN.
She sat tight through other recoveries as if she knew, this is my role. She became the mother hen to them all. She watched so many come in,and out. Placing her nose to many welcoming them in her way "it's ok here, youve made it!" A moment I will never forget, a day before Angela left we had a new intake Marci and Apolo. As if Angela knew she was leaving we walked them together and she did, she touched their noses as if she was saying, "its ok here, you're safe!"Always there, always loyal.

ALARMING NEWS.. MIJAS Hipodromo starts galgo racing.
On the 16th June 2012 - 3 weeks after having seen a poster for a show with galgos on the front cover, which proved to be a "dog show" but unnerved me, alarm bells rung. On the 16th June 2012 the Equine Mijas race course opened its doors to "Galgo racing" opening at 10pm.
Quietly done to test the water. To see where it would lead to, they held their race. All done quietly, and with what I believe was little attendance. However, this breaches all we fight for on the galgo plight. It leads to abuse, abandonment, and hangings on galgos who are doomed not worthy. Black dealings behind the scenes and exchanging of galgos will be seen. Sold, dangerous and dark. Mijas, is an area known for tourism, for being cosmopolitan in that it is part of the costa del sol.
Having been to the race course to investigate, I "still" wait for the coordinator to call me back to my complaint. Well, its a good job I know what they are like. Moving from there to the mayors office, I state the complaint. With concerns rising to what the future entails we push on. Peticions running, asociations joining together, and its here we must not stop.
In this area we do not have galgo abandonment, however should this begin I expect to see galgos hanging in the Mijas mountains very soon! For this reason, the sure fact it brings abuse known worldwide for the racing traumas, it has to stop.
PLEASE sign the peticion, PLEASE write to complain, contact all Greyhound rescue groups, press links, and aside the Federations of galgueros, the Junta, the politicians, the race course in Mijas must be made aware that they are beckoning abuse by allowing this.
We need you, the galgos need you... its not enough for those who can that spain is over run with galgos abandoned, its expandig the abuse if they continue to come to Mijas under these circunstances.
THIS MUST BE STOPPED!

Gandalf and Lidia,.. pure love.

Gandalf and foster siblings. Lidias.
Below.. Gandalfs eyes pierce right into your heart..

Polyana after her rescue..
Polyana at charls after a bath
Polyana with Luna, fast asleep.
Good luck Gandalf!
Gandalf has spent the last 3 years with Lidia, in her care and love. Gandalf has been the "invisible" galgo for as long as he has lived. Passed up, passed by without a single question about him. Nothing, noone appealed to Gandalfs pleading eyes. Telling his tale of pain and anxiety as a galgo in Spain, a slight mix of podenco but enough to put people off. Black, male, and not all galgo, enough to turn people away. An existance of abandonment, rescued by Tina. went into foster care which didnt work out. For Gandalf didnt settle, and so we took him on. He went into Lidias care straight away, to whom we are very greatful. Her love, affection, patience and dedication turned Gandalf around. He found love and life.
On the day Jay wrote and asked about Gandalf, I knew she was the one. I knew that she had seen his eyes, through his photo and he had beckoned to her to take him home. so she did!
Gandalf left Spain the 14th May 2012.. to be loved forever in his new home. Loved and cared for, Jay told me she has seen into his soul via his eyes, and I knew, i knew he was home.
Jay, and East Riding retired greyhounds team, for making this possible. http://eastriding.retiredgreyhounds.co.uk/
Polyana...
Sweet Polyana, cane to us several months ago now from the streets of Sevilla. She was rescued by Bligoo Sevilla and brought to us with Rey. She needed confidance, and care. She came around relatively quickly, and won my heart. Her fur soft and her face gentle. Id clean the stable and before long find and nose by my side. She would look for me while walking, she would turn and need me by her side. I was there, and will always be. No matter what she needs, I will give her my all. Polyana acompanied Gandalf to the UK and is at home adjusting to English life. In general at the stables I speak to the galgos in English, but they do listen to Spanish as well and so a new country, new temperatures, and language is alot to take in. She is playful, accepting her treats and loving her walks.
Again, we cannot thank you enough for your love and support for these two special galgos. For all your help in supporting their journey to the UK and in the promise of a new life, forever.
In galgo affection, always.
