4 galgos rescued from JEREZ! 4 Galgos rescatados de Jerez!

Marisa & Carlota, rescued and safe!
Jasper, Marisa and Telmo safe at last. A new beginning for Tulip.

Francisco and Telmo, a kind hand.

Telmo, free at last if only his heart hangs in for him to enjoy his retired days!

FREEDOM FROM HELL FOR THESE 4 GALGOS FROM JEREZ. WHERE THEY HAVE COME FROM - WHO KNOWS. WHAT THEY HAVE HAD TO PUT UP WITH WHO CAN TELL, BUT THE 24.12.10 WAS A DAY OF CELEBRATION FOR THESE 4. A NEW LIFE.
SCARED, HURT, HUNGRY, AND SAD, LIKE THIS THEY CAME TO US. FOR THE LIFE OF THE GALGO IS FAR FROM EASY. ASOCIATED WITH THE HARE THEY DONT HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE KNOWN FOR WHO THEY REALLY ARE, SWEET, NOBLE, AND CARING. FOR THESE 4 THIS IS THEIR OPPORTUNITY.
THE SAD NEWS IS THAT TELMO IS VERY VERY SICK. HE HUNG TO LIFE AND CONTINUES TO DO SO. HOW WE DON'T KNOW? HIS HEART TOO BIG, EXTREMELY LARGE AND THE MAIN ARTERY IS WAY TOO SMALL. THIS MEANS THAT THE OXYGEN GOING INTO THE HEART CANT SUPPLY IT ENOUGH. HE IS TIRED, VERY TIRED. HE IS SUPER FRIENDLY, CARING AND JUST WANTS YOU TO BE BY HIS SIDE. WE WILL BE WITH HIM FOR THE TIME HE NEEDS US THERE.
If you would likt o help us in anyway with the 4 Galgos or the care which Telmo will need medically we would be very greatful.

We need all the help we can receive.

Los galgos de JEREZ! Galgos from Jerez.

We were brought from our boss to here...I met this galga here.Little did i know about the good news.
Hemos estado traido de nuestro jefe aqui. He conocido esta galga abajo aqui.
Here we are.. officially sisters. We had been seperated for awhile. I was told I was going to go to another area in Spain.. and the other galga now named "Holly" such a pretty name was going to a place called England. I missed her in the place which was warm where we first got taken to, and here we are together again having been told that Hollys new Mummy and Daddy are making me Hollys sister, Im called "FAITH" I actually have a name of my own. I love you Angela and Peter. I am as excited as Holly and we will be together forever. This is me, FAITH with my little girl rescuer. She helped take me to Holly in her car.
Here I am .. I'm Holly!!!! Im arriving at VIPET. This is my residency which Faith came to with me afterwards. I waited patiently for her as I want to help her feel safe. We are sister now ya know!

This is the person who came and took us out of that horrible wet place where we were scared and cold. Where our boss took us all to. There were too many galgos like me there. I was so lucky. I never felt anyone like this person touch me kindly before.. he changed my world.

Look here.. here we are with this other person in this blue suit. We were taken here and treated like princess's. I heard Charl call him Paco. Like Holly and I, he has a name. He pinched us but we didnt mind as Charl said it was for our good to see if we were poorly. It was incase we needed special medicine. We are fine though - isnt that great! we got chuches too but were too scared to eat them. Though they smelt really good. Chuches are treats!
Charl tells us like Ruso, Santa has come. We cant believe how lucky we are. She tells us we have a new Mummy and Daddy. That the little girl who brought me to Holly, she will help look after us until we go home. Home to Mummy Angela and Daddy Peter. miracles happen! We pray for all you galgos left in the perrera that your miracle comes as well.

Its the time of year when hundreds of thousands of Galgos are "dumped" no longer needed you see, not cost effective - not that they ever were. Fed on bread and left on cold floors, thats what the Hunter thinks. He abandons his loyal friend and hunting partner "s" by leaving them to their own devices, or taking them to the pounds.

JEREZ!

Heres where the cry comes from Maribel. maribelsos2@gmail.com

ENDLESS Galgos enter into Jerez station every day, 15 at a time. Poor Maribel sees the destruction and sends out the plea. MANY asoc. come into action to help, taking 2 - 3- 4- 6- as many as they can to free them.. only Maribel is faced with more the next day.

Last week, I had the absolute delight of Dioni going to JEREZ because we met through GALGO NEWS (Beryl Brennan.. book From Heaven to Hell) Angela and Peter. In the UK.
They had spotted Holly through a web site in the UK. Lying on the cold floor she took their breath away and they moved mountains for her safety. At the same time we were picking up another galga (now faith) to go to our good friend TINA (galgos del Sol) in Murcia.
Murcia.
Holly went to residency as she is going to have her time in preparation for her journey to the UK and be with her new family. Faith stayed here with me for the night. Crying and searching Holly, my heart wept for her. Her dependancy on Holly and they had only just met. But they clung to each other in the uncertainty of another stage in their life. The next day Angela told me they wanted to Adopt Faith as well. They couldnt leave her behind.
Llorando, buscando a Holly.
It overwhelmed me and I couldnt wait to tell Faithy. She looked at me from Ambos bed with fear in her eyes. I knew then the only person who could reassure her, would be her new sister HOLLY! Of we went to see Holly. The photo above is the moment Holly and Faith saw one another, the kiss on the nose. They spend their days cuddled up together. Their future secure in the love of Angela and Peter. An amazing greyhound rescue couple who have the biggest hearts and to whom my thanks for Holly and Faith will be eternal!
There will be over the next 6 months photos of the girls, and cant wait to add on at the end, the photo of their arrival to their Mummy and Daddy. How proud I'll feel. Tomorrow they will be sterilised, together! Recover together, and of course come to Auntie charls for the recovery and then back to residency. They are an extention of our family.. until they go to their Mummy and Daddy!
My greatest thanks go to Angela and Peter. Mil Gracias a Angela y Peter.

Hola me llamo Jack.

Me querían y me mimaban. Jugaban conmigo
Siempre me porte bien.

Necesito ayuda, quiero vivir.
vengas y me des tu amor.

nuestros amigos?
Hablamos, preguntamos, aconsejamos, explicamos.

a Akne.

Gracias a Nelly y GALGOS FRANCE!

OCO's Incredible Journey! Summer 2009. El viaje Increible de Oco!

OCO.. This is MY new house!
Oco and Gringo, together forever!

Oco's forever brother Gringo!

OCO on the way home with Frances in her car!

Again.. in the car with Frances.

New foster mama, Frances with estrella.

Oco and Estrella - just chilling!

Thanks to Easy Pet for great service in taking Oco & Gaby!

Moments of love! Moments de cariño!

Ambo.. Oco's 1st Foster brother trying to show him how to play!

Ocos incredible journey begins here.. his trip to France with Gaby to Frances! His new foster mama. Thanks Frances for his new start, and Beryl from Galgo News for placing ocos Case.

Picking Ticks of. Quitando Garrapatas.

Summer 2009... RESCUED from the streets of Estepona.
OCO.. This is Oco!!
In the summer of 2009 I was called regarding an abandoned Galga on a hunting area in Estepona Malaga. Over an hours journey to get to her, we went as often as we could to try to save her. Sadly Dona named by Marie just wouldnt take her chance and no matter what we did, how we tried her fear took her over and we lost her.
On one of the occasions we were there a little scruffy, dirty podenco arrived. He wanted to play, inquisitive and unsure, hungry but was clear he was smart enough that the food which was laid daily for Dona he was helping himself to. So he wasnt thin. A wormy tummy yes, and horrendously long nails on his back paws which curled around. Lame he hobbled to us and away from us. "Any hot dogs spare?"
The day we took the trap my intention was, I was never going to leave him behind. As much as we wanted to catch Dona, I wanted to rescue this little boy as well.

He so helped us out!!!!

While waiting for Dona along came the dirty scruffy podenco!! He sniffed the trap, the juicy meat just toooo good to leave.

Entering carefully as Encarni from DDEVIDA and I were actually standing close by the trap, he took his chance. He walked in, but cleverly didnt stand on the leverage to make the door slam. With a SWIFT hand movement from Encarni she slammed the door down and he was forever saved!

This is Oco's First stage of rescue!

He patiently waited while we spent the entire day and most of the night waiting for Dona to enter the trap, to no avail. Silently he sat in the car to go home.

Washed , deticked, deflead, wormed, and fed.. To our surprise Oco had a chip!

We called the owner who was surprised to hear from us.. a hunter "of course" - who stated he had given the dog to a friend of his the year before.

Of course this friend didnt seem to have a phone number, and we were interested to see that this hunter who to us, no longer wanted his podenco and at 4 (if it was the truth) had disreguarded of him the year before at 3, proves this little podenco had a hard up bringing. From his reaction, an opthamologist - Id say he was on the streets way before he was 3! He stumbled to explain his way out of owning the dog, and at being told he is the legal owner its his responsibility he agreed to sign over the podenco to us. Having said that, at our expence. He didnt want him, had "got rid" years before, but would not pay the change of ownership nor come to meet us. We paid it and had to go all the way to his opticians for him to sign!
So.. legally ours..

His tests were done. Negative in everything - what a joy! He went to stay with a foster family and was castrated. He cried alot, when you went to touch him he would yelp. Scream. He screamed after his castration which was so sad.

The foster family couldnt keep him, now named OCO. So heres where Frances steps in.

Thanks to Galgo News Frances spotted him and decided to offer him a place of salvation. Oco spent the summer months with Frances. She dedicated many hours to working with him, teaching him what a "home environment is" the rules of the house, and outside the house. It's not easy, and its not easy to get attached either. Oco just wins you over.

Towards the end of summer Oco was spotted by his soon to be papa. His forever PAPA!!!!
Coen, Pierre & Gringo( their other rescued dog) step up for Oco!

When a dog chooses you, it's very hard to deny it. For me, great lengths and expence were made from this wonderful family to take Oco home to Holland. Patience and timing were everything. Coen had been looking on GALGO NEWS (www.galgonews.com) curious about a podenco he had spotted. However Oco came up and as I say when a dog chooses you, you can only go with it and offer them all your heart. Coen fell for Oco and Oco's safe secure future was decided. Oco was to enter into Coen, Pierre and Gringos family!
Heres his story:

Gringo had a skin infection and due to caring for him in strict hygiene and loving condition, Oco stayed in the care of Frances.
We were THRILLED that Coen had seen Oco and fallen for him. It was a pleasure to wait for the perfect timing for Oco to finally "go home!"
Several months passed and then the adoption took place.
The dilema then was just how to get Oco to Coen?
Coen didnt stop there, he took a flight which had been delayed and transferred a bus.. to meet his new addition to the family. Every detail covered to make sure Oco was going to travel with the least amount of stress. Frances waited at the Airport with Oco and on arrival met Coen.

On the return trip also meeting dilemas to do with a strike, together they caught the bus to the rerouted plan of travel, and finally late at night made it HOME!
We are truly greatful to Coen and Pierre and Ocos new brother Gringo, also rescued from Spain. A new life for Oco in safety love, and peace.

Enjoy the photos of this wonderful tale, his journey really was the incredible journey!!
THANKYOU to you all, GRIN who helped fund Oco, Frances who cared for him. Anita in the beginning, Ddevida who were there at the time of rescue. Galgo News France for placing his story, and to COEN & PIERRE & GRINGO!
