INTRODUCING ELISA.. ANOTHER GALGA IN NEED! OS PRESENTO ELISA, OTRA GALGA BUSCANDO HOGAR S.O.S

PUT A GALGO IN YOUR LIFE, AND YOU WILL NEVER REGRET IT!

Everywhere is saturated, all associations, all residencies and most foster homes.. its just a lonely exhausting time for the associations feeling all alone.. no hlp, no new foster homes, no financial help, nada de nada.. only case after case after case and it just does not end. A kind heart takes them in but then where are the ADOPTIONS;: Adopting a galgo saves 2 lives, one you adopt and the space you leave for the next one to come in. If Elisa pulls at your heart strings, PLEASE contact below, or if you can help in any other way please contact the address below, there is urgency with her neeeding a home within a week, or paying residency. Thanks!

STILL ON THE RUN AND HARD TO RESCUE:

Espero noticias.
Muchas gracias,
Yolanda
This galga en illescas STILL is running free after several months of trying to rescue her. Scared she is..at this stage in a galgos life, they cannot tell the differance of those who are harmful, from all they have known to those who now only want to help them and find them love and sanctuary.
This galga has a foster home waiting, but the difficulty is catching her. noone can get close enough, and she is roaming within a 10,000 sq metre plot which the rescuers have tried as they can to fence in, she has escaped several times. A kennel trap has been attempted in vain, and now the thoughts turn to aneasthetic shot but getting close enough is hard, this needs someone who has experiance in doing this.. if anyone can help PLEASE contact us. comdelrio@hotmail.com She needs help.

Introducing some galgo friends..... os presento unos amigos de los galgos...

Arca de Noa Murcia. www.noahsarcmurcia.com

On many an occasion a friend of mine said I should have been in touch with Gail, just because we could make good contact. throuh the time I have been dedicated to the galgos I seem to have met many a person, but gail and i have not crossed paths until now, despite having been aware of the work they have done with the assoc, in which they are dedicated to.

Gail and Andrew spend their days being parents to many a galgo. Stepping in when needed, stopping at nothing to make sure they can change a life of an injured sick or needy galgo. That is exactly what they do - change their lives.

As many a foster parent knows the hardships are there, from the beginning to the end, and falling in love all over again with eyes whom you have seen fight hell and then develop faith once again toward the human hand.

Its hard.. very hard at the end of foster care to place your galgo in a crate and send to their new home, they dont know where they are going.. BUT the differance is, they are going in love. They have felt love and honesty, through the cruelest of nights when a galgo cries out in pain, in memory of a stick which blows and reigns down on them.. for they have been born a Galgo and worth nothing unless they can hunt.. to the cries that leave them shacking, the hunger in their stomach but fear which wont let them get close to the food for another dog may attack, in all these moments Gail, Andrew would nurse a broken soul show them the hand of courage and let them know, their pain is over. night after night if necesary. Understanding their torture in their own mind, until the day they win a tail which wags, a bottom which shakes as I call "botty shake" in endless glory when their Mama walks in the house with groceries in happiness just to see them.. then they know they have won them over.

Fostering can take time, it can be a quick YES in order to get galgos out of hell, and then be responsible for them from this moment on, until they grow wings and take flight into the big world and a new family awaits them with open arms.

The days Gail and Andrew go to the assoc. to walk the dogs there, attend rescues, and help in anyway possible, -- well to me its my time to offer them recognition to which many go without.

Seeing a galgo happy in his new family is worth ALL the effort, the pain and the sadness at missing them, this however saves lives, one goes on and saves another since it leaves room for another lost soul to have sanctuary. This is the reality of the plight of the galgos.

I am thrilled that we have become in contact, and of course this happened through the passion for the galgos. Ill include some pictures of some galgos which have been recently rescued by them, and will now go on to their new homes.
In all of this, to whomever reads this, I know Gail and Andrew would like to personally (as do I) to thank their team of fosterers. Without their help, many a galgo cannot reach safety. Most galgos come in destroyed, their souls vacant, their eyes filled in fear, their bodies eskeletal, and many with Leishmania, heartworm, wounds which are inflicted in the cruelest of manners.. the endless walk the fosterers and helpers take in coaxing a wounded destroyed galgo which can take weeks, never giving up and then opening their home and family to start the process of recovery is an enormous part of this project. Within any an association.
The guardian Angels (which is how I refer to associations) sit up as you would with a baby throughout the night, nursing, coaxing, and offering love. Treating wounds, paying money all in order to see the day when a galgo wags his tail and begins to have a bit of a botty shake in doing so, the eyes are brighter and the love is there. All this done in order to help the team. The day then comes forth when an adoption is found and they say goodbye to their work. Knowing they have helped a lost soul, find wings and learn to fly again in the world which they deserve LOVE! A forever family!!!!
Hard as it may be, they do it again and again and again.. a bridge until they reach freedom and their forever home, healed sould body and mind. expenses left to pay for and another one at the door to begin again. Please take into consideration the work load of an assoc. a fosterer, and the rewards are immense. good luck to you all my friends!

I applaud all associations and for this reason I endeavour to keep up my letters and work to publicise them.. loving a Galgo is a love you never knew you had.

If you are interested in helping the galgos, there are many ways.

If you would like to get to know Gail and Andrew and the team at Noahs Arc Murcia better, just click the link above. They're waiting to hear from you!

Meanwhile from Ambo and I, - thanks so much for your labor.. you guys rock! Be blessed always!

AN AMAZING EVENT & G.R.I.N ATTENDED!

Animal Rights Conference 2009, Los Angeles CA.. July 17-19

Galgo Rescue International Network attended their first Animal Rights Conference 2009 in Los Angeles CA.
Along with well know animal rights causes, GRIN established their cause as one worthy of national and international awareness. The turnout was huge and there was lots of interest in what is happening in Spain and how GRIN has been helping to support existing shelters in Spain while public awareness is beginning to spread within its own country to the general public.

Many people were not aware of the treatment of Galgos, Podencos and other hunting dogs in Spain and applauded our efforts to raise awareness. We meet people from all over the US, Canada and even Spain.

The four day conference was attended by Keiko Krahnke, Julie Krahnke, Telma Shaw, Wally Lacey and Don and Elaine Irving.
Many people asked about how they could adopt a Galgo also.

We continue to suggest that raising awareness, perseverance and an international team effort is what can make a difference in the future for the Galgos as it has for the racing Greyhounds here in the U.S. over the years.

Compassion has no boundaries, the Galgos need our voices.

WWW.ELREFUGIO.ORG Y UN GRAN LABOR EN PROTECCION Y NOMBRE DE LOS GALGOS EN ESPAÑA

This is the work done from El Refugio showing a GREAT effort and directly to the point having rescued, though too late this galgo who had been left hanging until his death. I applaud such attempts at publicity in ,the plight of the galgos, and here we see such efforts and lack of fear at just that, drawing attention to what is the truth.. galgos die in Spain...FACT. Galgos are thrown out, down wells ... FACT. Galgos are surplus to requirements after hunting season...FACT. Galgos are not looked after even in hunting season... FACT. Galgos need protection... FACT. SPAIN NEEDS A LAW BANNING HUNTING WITH GALGOS... FACT!
GALGOS MAKE EXCELLENT PETS... FACT!THEY NEED OPPORTUNITIES ... FACT!!!!!!!!!
God Bless white Galgo, may you look down from Rainbow bridge and know you are there right at the front of the fight to protect your brothers and sisters all over Spain .. May your galguero feel the fear and pain you did, "sr. galguero, you have blood on your hands!" May God punish you and when you reach Hell Sr. galguero (for there is no place in heaven for you) may you burn to smitherines.
Rest in Peace White Galgo.

YET AGAIN.. ANOTHER THROWN IN A WELL TO DIE A MISERABLE DEATH!

Behaviour of which is "A disgrace!!!!!" THANK GOD HE WAS FOUND! GRACIAS A DIOS FUE ENCONTRADO!!!

A message sent out by the rescuer..

No sabemos cuánto tiempo llevaba allí.
ADOPTADA!!!!! MUCHAS GRACIAS FAMILIA!!!

BE A VOICE FOR UK GREYHOUNDS... A RACE AGAINST TIME, PLEASE CLICK LINK BELOW AND SIGN.THANKYOU ON BEHALF OF THE GREY'S!

RSPCA and Greyhounds Urgently Need Your Help before 22nd July
I have received the following message from the RSPCA. Please join their campaign and write a letter as they request.
Dear supporter,
Large numbers of racing greyhounds are suffering every year because of a lack of effective regulation.Every year at least 10,000 greyhounds are retired from racing. The fate of many of these greyhounds is unknown and huge numbers simply 'disappear'.
Now we have the chance to protect them for the whole of their lives. But that chance expires in just a few days, on Wednesday, 22 July.
We've set ourselves a target to get at least 20,000 people to send a letter to the government by 22 July to push them to introduce special legislation for racing greyhounds under the Animal Welfare Act. After that, the consultation period closes for good.
We need the government to know that the public is unhappy about the uncertainty around racing greyhounds. We need them to know that thousands of people support legislation that will protect each and every racing greyhound, by law, from cradle to grave. And we need to let them know by 22 July so that we don't miss our chance. Please sign the campaign letter now, then forward this email on to other animal lovers so we can reach as many people as possible, as quickly as possible.
Visit www.giveanimalsavoice.org.uk/greyhounds to jointhe most important greyhound race of all.
It's one they can't afford to lose. http://www.giveanimalsavoice.org.uk/greyhounds

G.R.I.N In the USA hard at work for the galgos, as always!

I write in GREEN since G.R.I.N is a colourful association in America, and their colours are Green. I salute tis association and have a very sensitive side since a director from the association is a dear galgo friend of mine, and I really thank Telma Shaw, for having set me on the road to the life of the Spanish Galgo!

G.R.I.N spend a Great deal of time supporting the galgos of Spain and when they apply efforts to create noise about the galgos they do so with such pride, so greatly earnt. They - from events, to walks, to stores, to helping out with the "Fiesta de Galgos", to rescues, to MASS costs in helping associations in Spain and also MASS rescues where galgos and podencos are taken to American shores for new homes all applied by this association. They are commited 100% to the Galgo and will be there celebrating when the day comes that the galgo can hold his head high going down the street and say, THERES A LAW AGAINST HUNTING! I AM A PET!

So here G.R.I.N shares some photos of a pet fair and a small explaination of such from Telma about the day.

Here are some photos from this weekend at a pet fair in Denver Colorado. These are some of my co-workers from GRIN. The galgo is Gus who came from Scooby Medina, the little terrior came from Kimba in Cadiz. The ladies in the picture are GRIN volunteers and the blond lady is Kim Malone one of our board members. There were about 8 or 9 Spanish rescues that showed up that afternoon, who> all live in Colorado..:) This weekend we are going to the Animal Rights Conference in Los Angeles California, www.arconference.org Will take pictures of our information table, it will be good exposure for plight of the galgo to many animal rights people..

GRIN is listed under exhibitors, this is our first year attending.I will be talking my head off!

Telma

BLESS YOU TELMA; WITHOUT G.R.I.N MANY A GALGO WOULD HAVE DIED. THANKYOU AND BLESS ALL OF YOU! YOU ROCK!

Running Scared... Another Galgo. Corriendo con miedo, otro galgo!

In the campo of Illescas a plea has been made to help rescue this galgo. Running scared his own fear of the human hand cannot judge a kind one from a beater and feels safer in solitary fear, than taking the hand of someone who can help.
The attempts are there to help, but he is proving hard to catch and already a foster home is set up by an experianced galgo rescuer in Burgos. However, this is far away from where the galgo is.
It never amazes me just how a galgo can be caught and then journeyed to a home across the country in order to keep it safe. Starting the process then of finding YET another galgo a forever home.
Ill keep you posted on his progress.
esperamos noticias ...
